Obituary for F. John (Jack) Hoch

F. John (Jack) Hoch, 56, of Hackettstown, passed away on June 14 at Morristown Medical Center.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Jill, and his adoring daughter, Kate. He is also survived by his mother Kathleen Hoch, sisters Sandra Gulotta (Peter) and Pamela Howard (Jay), brother-in-law Peter Snieckus (Nancy), mother-in-law Joanne White, sister-in-law Wendy Hovendon (Joe), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Frank L. Hoch and sister Mary K. Snieckus.

Jack graduated from Bayley Ellard High School (Class of 1981) and St. Bonaventure University. He was president of E. W. McClave, Inc., Kearny, NJ and a member of the National Lumber & Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA), the NJ Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) and Baltusrol Golf Club.

Jack coached community basketball and would be quick to say his spot-on shooting was still there. Through many driveway games, Kate quickly picked up on his accurate shot, and later in life she followed in his footsteps with a passion for coaching. Aside from his family, Jack had a love of golf. He was a member of the college golf team and continued to play at Baltusrol Golf Club where he spent many happy hours in pursuit of his elusive “hole-in-one”.

Jack was a very generous person, and his final generous gift was that of life through organ and tissue donation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the NJ Sharing Network in Jack’s name. ( A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
