AGNES McGARRY KOCH- Cherished Mother and Grandmother

Agnes Koch “Aggie” passed away peacefully at home in Madison on March 5,2020 after a long illness. She previously resided in East Hanover and Hillside, NJ.

Agnes was born in Elizabeth, NJ and graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Elizabeth. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology, NY and then began her career in fashion as a model with the Conover Modeling Agency, NYC. She later became a clothing buyer and department manager for Bonwit Teller, NY and Short Hills, NJ and B. Altman & Co., NY.

For many years following, Agnes worked in advertising as a copywriter and advertising manager for Good Deal Supermarkets, Gianettino & Meredith Advertising Agency and King’s Supermarkets. In her “retirement”, she worked part time at New Leaf Consignment Shop in Madison.

While her career was an integral part of her life, Agnes’ family and many friends were most important to her. Her pride as a mother and mother-in-law could only be matched by her sheer delight at being a grandmother to Briana and Dillon.

Agnes was an avid reader, an eloquent writer and by nature very creative. She enjoyed nothing more than decorating for the holidays, in her home and also for family and friends. Her vibrant personality, sense of style, quick wit as well as her ability to tell a good joke will long be remembered. Agnes was also a member of the Church of the Assumption, Morristown.

Agnes was predeceased by her parents, Agnes and Andrew McGarry; her sister, Mary Trowbridge and her son-in-law Tom Coyne.
