Melanie Ann Pye, age 46, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, after a long hard fought battle with Scleroderma.

Melanie was so full of life, and always saw the positive in everything. Melanie was always cheerful and upbeat. She was always willing to help others. Whether it was a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, a sarcastic comment at the right moment, or sharing her talent and passion of creating paintings, or crafts and costumes. Melanie’s laughter and smile could light up an entire room she was in. It never mattered what adversity Mel was facing, she always smiled through it. Mel always said “laughter is the best medicine”

Melanie dedicated her life to her son and his accomplishments. Early on, she would be out on some sports field cheering Justin on, and never missed a game. She was his biggest fan. As Justin grew into the young man he is today, Melanie always pushed him to realize his dreams. She loved him with every ounce of her being.

Melanie is survived by her loving Grandmother, Alice Pye, her incredibly devoted parents Bruce and Kathleen Pye, her beloved son, Justin Contreras, her brother Bruce and his wife Jessica, and her sister Keri and her husband Andy. Melanie has three nieces, Kylie, Taylor and Alex, and one nephew Drew whom she loved so deeply. Melanie is also survived by her aunts and uncles and cousins, all of which she had an unbelievable individual bond with.

Melanie’s Family will be dedicating a bench in her name to the “Jersey Shore” boardwalk, and will hold a Celebration of Life for Melanie at the location after it is installed.
