Obituary for Kenneth A Harty

It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth (Kenny) A. Harty, who last resided at Pine Acres Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Madison, NJ, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Morristown Medical Center after a short illness. He would have been 70 years old on July 31, 2019.

Kenny was born on July 31, 1949 in Bergen County, New Jersey. Kenny was born with cerebral palsy and suffered related physical and mental conditions throughout his life. He was an avid sports fan, especially of baseball, and knew much about the history of the game including standings, historical statistics, dates and details about playoff and World Series Games going back to the 1950’s. He was very interested in transportation, especially air and train travel (which he experienced as often as he could) and had a working knowledge of passenger jet aircraft and train lines. Kenny loved music and followed closely the rock band Genesis and Peter Gabriel. He knew their music, every song name and its lyrics. He enjoyed attending rock concerts as well. He had strong and well thought out opinions about politics and world events and followed current events until right before his passing. Kenny had a wonderful sense of humor and could routinely offer a wry comment that would surprise and delight friends and family.

Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Andrew, and his mother, Doris. He is survived by his sister, Andrea D. Lampson, Andrea’s husband, Mark, his nephew Trevor A. Lampson and his niece, Alyssa J. Lampson of Plymouth, Massachusetts, his brother, Timothy S. Harty and Tim’s wife, Gail, of Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Morristown attended by immediate family. Friends and family may pay their respects at a reception at the home of Tim and Gail Harty at 53 Dickinson Road, Basking Ridge on Saturday, August 3 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM to celebrate Kenny’s life. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey:
