Obituary for John B. Sloane

John Bradley Sloane, 67, passed away on July 2, 2019.

Born and raised in Morristown, NJ, he lived most of his life in East Hanover before moving to Denville where he currently resided with his wife, Jackie (nee Russo). John attended Assumption School, Bayley Elllard and Seton Hall University.

John worked as an accountant for most of his life but was well known as the owner of Morgan’s Tavern where he met many patrons who became longtime friends. He recently retired and took on a part-time job where he again his kind spirit touched so many lives. John was a generous, selfless man who put everyone above himself and was adored and loved by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his positive spirit, joyful personality, and a smile (smirk) on his face.

He loved the Yankees, golf and yearly trips to Cancun. His favorite thing to do was enjoy “happy hour” with his wife Jackie on their porch and talk about their day.

He is predeceased by his parents, Jim and Rita Sloane (nee Mulvaney), his brother, James Sloane and his wife, Serena. He is survived by his wife, Jackie, his brother Ronald and wife Barbara, brother William and wife Gayle, mother-in-law, Theresa Russo, Nancy and Tim Byron, sister-in-law and brother-in-law. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Everything John did, he did from his heart. He was a kind and gentle soul who will be truly missed by all. Whether you knew him as John or Bradley, you will carry his memory in your hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to John’s favorite charity, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
