Obituary for Joanne W. O'Brien

Joanne Wallin O'Brien, 83 of Florham Park died peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2019- fittingly on Memorial Day weekend. She loved her holidays.

Friends and family are invited to a celebratory Mass which will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11:00 am at Holy Family Parish, in Florham Park. Visitations for Joanne will be held just prior to the mass at Holy Family from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment is at Holy Rood Cemetery in Morristown following her funeral.

Born in Hatboro, Pennsylvania on August 30, 1935, shewas the only daughter of Anna and Oliver Cromwell Wallin. She attended Bucknell University where she met the love of her life Thomas O'Brien. They were married in 1957 and have lived in Florham Park for the past 60 years.

She worked at Torey J. Sabatini School in Madison, NJ before working at Exxon for 20 years and remained an active Exxon retiree member.

She is a member of Holy Family Parish in Florham Park and was a former President of their Rosary Society.

While raising her children she was very active in her community. She was a PTA President, Girl Scout leader, secretary for the Florham Park Historical Society and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Joanne took great pride in her alma mater, Bucknell University and was a proud member of Delta, Delta, Delta Sorority. She loved singing for the Florhamaires and The Interludes.

Joanne enjoyed traveling with her husband wherever it may be. One of her favorite spots to vacation was spending time with her family in Spring Lake at the Breakers. She was devoted to her family; a proud matriarch. She had strong faith in God, and lived a beautiful life shared with her husband. She had a good competitive nature and took great enjoyment and pride in watching her grandchildren perform whether on a stage or at a sporting event. She remains their biggest fan.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Thomas Joseph O'Brien and her four children and their families. Elizabeth "Beth" O'Brien, Karen Loveys and her husband Jim, Mark O’Brien and his wife Pam, and Kathleen Cimaglia and her husband Gerry. Her Grandchildren andtheir spouses; Chelsea, Pat, Anna, Pat, James, Abby, Shea, Brittany, Josh, Maggie, Amanda, Thomas, Kylie, Allie and Ian and her great-granddaughter Kaia.
We love you forever and ever.
