Obituary for Jean Hall Dinsmore

Jean Hall Dinsmore died peacefully on Monday August 26, 2019 at Sunrise of Madison, a caring community where she had been residing for the last year.
Jean was born in Ridgeway, PA on June 19, 1924 to Dr. Perry O. Hall and Mary F. Towle. The family moved to Jersey City, NJ when Jean was a young child. After the death of their mother, Jean and her sister Elizabeth were lovingly raised by their step-mother, Elizabeth Barbour Hall and were joined by a brother, Perry Andrew Hall.
Jean graduated from Cornell University, where she was an editor of the Cornell Daily Sun, an Alpha Phi sorority member and a Cornell Radio station DJ. She moved back to Jersey City where she worked for the Jersey Journal and Colgate Palmolive Corporation. She announced to her parents that the “handsomest man in Jersey City” had asked her for a date. On June 10, 1950, Jean married Ronald E. Dinsmore. They ultimately moved to Convent Station, NJ where they raised a son, Thomas and two daughters, Jane and Sally.
Besides being a devoted wife and mother, Jean’s passion was politics. A lifelong Republican, she became an aid to NJ State Legislature and was elected to NJ State Committee and Morris County Committee. She was a grass-roots activist and fundraiser.
Jean was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church in Morristown and the Lake Worth Presbyterian Church.
An avid golfer, Jean was a long time member of Morris County Golf Club and Lost City Golf Club in Atlantis, FL.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ronald, her parents and stepmother, and her
sister and brother.
