Obituary for Adela Quintana

Adela Quintana of New Providence passed away with her family around her on July 28. She was 87.

Adela was born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba to Mercedes and Francisco Quintana. In the 1950s, Adela came to the United States to be with her siblings Ana, Jesus & Manolo who all lived in the Bronx because her parents wanted her to leave Cuba before Castro took power.

Adela worked as a Senior Needlepoint Designer at Paragon Needle Craft. In the 80’s when the company closed she reinvented herself and worked at elite private spas such as Atrium Club and Peninsula Spa in NYC. Adela was proud to be Cuban but she loved the United States and was honored to be an American. Becoming a citizen through marriage when she was young she decided at 65 years old to become a citizen again under her maiden name.

Ms. Quintana is survived by her daughter Darlene and her husband Damian of New Providence. Adela has two grandchildren Ian and Hayley who meant the world to her as we have seen through their stories and memories. Adela was also blessed with having so many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 1st from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Doyle Funeral Home, 106 Maple Avenue, Morristown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Assumption Church in Morristown on Friday, August 2 at 10:00 am. A private family burial service will follow at Saint Raymond Cemetery in the Bronx.
